Parents expect a campus inbox, not a counsellor phone
A counsellor’s personal WhatsApp still feels like care in a campus corridor. Online, families compare schools the way they compare banks: they want a number that belongs to the institution, survives staff turnover, and can be forwarded to a spouse without looking like a side deal.
- Trust signal, not a nurture recipe
- Jobs will live on playbooks
- How-tos will live on guides
What this post is for
This is a 2026 note about how families judge whether a chat is the campus. It is not admissions nurture, incomplete-application chase, counselling calendars, or fee reminders. Those jobs will sit under /industries/education/playbooks and /guides/education when those programs ship. Do not clone them onto this slug.
The counsellor phone became a risk
Admissions culture rewarded the person who replied at 11 p.m. That still happens. What changed is the parent’s reference class. Public websites, review videos, and fee circulars trained people to look for a named school, a registered entity, and a trail they can show a second adult. A display name that does not match the gate sign no longer feels exclusive. It feels unofficial.
Staff leave. Phones reset. Peak counselling week is covered by someone who cannot open last month’s thread. The family does not experience a CRM migration. They experience a dead chat and a stranger asking the same documents again. That is a brand event.
A campus inbox does not make the counsellor less human. Inbox handoff still lets a named person speak in first person. The number, the history, and the opt-out list belong to the Organization and the Project.
What CoPulse will not pretend
Connecting a channel does not become your student information system, gradebook, or fee ledger. Autonomous outbound success is sends and reads, not “enrolled.” Conversation agents, Growth drips, and autonomous tasks are three systems. SMS is a separate channel in Setup. This URL exists so the identity question has a dated page while job URLs stay free for later leaves.
Where to go next
Use the industry hub for product coverage. When playbooks and guides ship, they will own the jobs and mechanics — not this post.
Put the chat on the Organization
Connect a Project channel, keep history when counsellors rotate, and meter usage from the wallet.
